What it is
The Quest for Chests rewards the act of opening chests. Receiving a gift and opening it are different steps: opening is what earns tournament points (official guide).
It belongs to the short personal-tournament rotation. Your score is your own, even when your clan supplies many of the gifts you open. There is no shared chest-opening total to which every member must contribute for this ranking.
The useful preparation is a stash that can survive until the event actually starts. The dangerous version is withholding every gift indefinitely because you expect the tournament soon. A gift's expiry timer still applies while you wait.
When it runs
The official tournament guide says these contests start randomly, with no fixed public launch schedule. Look in the game's upcoming-tournament list and confirm the live event before opening the stash you intend to score.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Active scoring window | 2 hours |
| Current or next start, UTC | Fri, Nov 6, 18:30 |
| Short regular tournaments active together | 1 |
| Rewarded ranking places | Top 100 |
The start shown is read from the game's calendar when you open the page; it is not a repeating daily appointment. Use the calendar alongside the current in-game countdown.
The same named tournament cannot follow itself immediately. Waiting for an immediate repeat after missing the window is therefore a poor reason to leave gifts unopened.
Who can take part
The entry record adds no special joining condition for the normal-kingdom event. You need eligible chests available to open while the scoring window is active.
The official list names 3 eligible categories: clan gifts, crypt chests and chests from package offers. You do not need a purchase to participate; gifts and crypt activity already provide eligible categories.
Clan membership can supply gifts, but it does not turn this into a clan ranking. Give smaller accounts a reminder about the window without setting a compulsory chest target or implying that buying offers is part of joining in.
How opening scores
Prepare by expiry, not by enthusiasm
The clan gift rule gives you 20 hours from a gift's appearance to open it. After that, it expires. Check the oldest gifts before deciding what to hold.
Separate gifts with visible expiry timers from other unopened packages. Do not assume that every inventory object follows the same timer. Read its own conditions before treating it as safe to save.
Open while the matching event is active
- Open the tournament window and confirm The Quest for Chests is live.
- Check your current score and the time remaining.
- Open eligible chests, starting with gifts closest to expiry.
- Return to the tournament ranking to review the result before opening more saved packages.
That sequence keeps opening tied to the scoring action. Completing a crypt expedition or purchasing an offer is not a substitute for checking whether the eligible chest has actually been opened.
Do not invent a chest-to-score conversion
The official overview names eligible categories but does not publish a universal point value for every chest. Follow the current scoring panel when comparing gifts of different kinds.
The game doesn't publish points by chest type, or whether bulk opening scores every eligible chest the same way. Check the live tournament's rules in the game.
The clan-menu article does say that opening gifts individually does not increase Clan wealth compared with opening them together. That is about wealth, not this tournament's scoring.
Rewards
The top 100 players receive ranking rewards. The official rule says those rewards arrive automatically when you next log in; any Dragon Coins are credited to Clan Capital rather than your personal balance.
The usual ranking rewards are a title, tar, captain fragments and other items (event notes). Consult your current reward panel for the offered ranking band rather than assuming that opening a particular chest guarantees a particular placing.
The event has no chest of its own, so there is no drop table here: a crypt or epic chest's chances describe that chest, not your ranking reward.
The Power Points guide covers a different bankable action: adding points to your account's VIP progression. Opening a gift and applying an item found inside it should each be timed for the action you intend to complete.
A plan for your clan
Use the short-tournament overview for the shared rotation rules. The crypt-exploration guide covers the activity that can supply eligible crypt chests; exploration and opening remain separate decisions.
Common mistakes
- Hoarding gifts beyond their expiry in search of a better opening window.
- Assuming receipt of a chest is the same scoring action as opening it.
- Treating the calendar's next start as a fixed repeating timetable.
- Assuming all chest categories award identical points without checking the scoring panel.
- Confusing Clan wealth from gifts with personal tournament points.
FAQ
Which chests count?
The official list names clan chests, crypt chests and chests from package offers. Check the live scoring panel for their point values.
Should I save every clan gift?
No. Open gifts before they expire. Save only those whose timers let you reach a confirmed live window safely.
Does opening gifts separately give more Clan wealth?
No. The official clan-menu article says individual opening does not increase wealth compared with opening together.
Is this a clan tournament?
No. Clan gifts can help supply your openings, but the event ranks players individually.
Do I need to claim the ranking reward manually?
The official short-tournament rule says ranking rewards are credited when you next log in. The clan-bound coin reward goes to the capital.
