What it is
Scientific Progress is the short personal tournament for unlocking and researching technologies. It scores technologies completed in the Academy during its scoring window (official guide).
Your useful preparation is a technology already on your development path. A troop unlock or exploration prerequisite keeps its value after the ranking ends. A technology chosen only because its timer is convenient may delay the branch your account actually needs.
Research and construction are separate activities here. Improving the building that houses research is not the same action as completing a technology within it. The Castle Development guide covers the construction side.
When it runs
The official regular-tournament article says launches are random and have no fixed public timetable. Check the upcoming list, then confirm the live event before finishing research specifically for points.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Active scoring window | 2 hours |
| Current or next start, UTC | Fri, Nov 6, 22:30 |
| Regular tournaments active together | 1 |
| Rewarded places | Top 100 |
The start shown is read from the game's calendar when you open the page. Use the calendar to plan, but let the current in-game countdown settle the actual completion window.
A named regular tournament cannot immediately repeat. Missing the window does not mean the next event will offer another research opportunity. Continue your ordinary research programme instead of waiting with the process idle.
Who can take part
The entry record adds no special joining requirement for this normal-kingdom event. You still need access to research and must meet the chosen technology's own requirements.
Open the technology before planning its finish. Check the prerequisite branch and available resources, rather than assuming that having the tournament open makes a locked technology available.
Research priorities differ between accounts. The official troop-training guide says higher troop tiers require the corresponding technology. A member approaching an army unlock has a different reason to finish research from a member improving an exploration branch.
That difference is useful for officers. Ask what a planned technology unlocks, not simply how long its timer is. The tournament can reward normal progress without becoming the sole reason for choosing the next technology.
How research scores
Keep the finish inside the window
The scoring activity is unlocking and researching technologies: start useful long research beforehand and time its completion inside the active tournament.
- Select a technology you need for your next account goal.
- Start it as part of normal progression.
- When the matching tournament is confirmed, check the remaining timer and possible clan help.
- Finish the technology during the active window.
- Check your score before deciding whether another completion is worth bringing forward.
Do not confuse having research in progress with having completed the scoring action. The ranking panel is the place to confirm what was credited.
The game doesn't publish a research scoring table or exactly when research scores, including whether a technology's level or branch changes its value. Check the live tournament's rules in the game.
Use help without blocking the research path
The clan-menu article says help capacity depends on your city's main building and can be increased for research through Great Ruler. That title permits 5 additional help requests for research and construction upgrades.
Incoming assistance can move a completion earlier. Review the remaining time after help instead of spending acceleration items against an outdated estimate. Leave the clan's help routine running; select a project whose revised timer suits the event.
Do not assume help is a multiplier on tournament points. It changes the process timing. The current scoring rule determines the points for the completed technology.
Choose research for what it opens
The official crypt guide gives a concrete example of a prerequisite: exploration of each Epic Crypt requires crypt research level 3. Exploring a Rare Crypt also requires the relevant technology, alongside a key of the required level.
These requirements make a useful decision test. If finishing exploration research opens content you already intend to use, the completion has value beyond the tournament. If a different branch unlocks the troops you need first, do not abandon it solely for a convenient timer.
See the crypt-exploration guide when the research is intended to support exploration. Confirming the prerequisite and doing the exploration are separate stages of that plan.
Rewards
The top 100 players receive ranking rewards. Under the official regular-tournament rule, those rewards arrive when you next log in. Any Dragon Coins are credited to Clan Capital.
The usual ranking rewards are a title, tar, captain fragments and other items (event notes). Check the live ranking bands before accelerating research you would otherwise leave running normally.
The event has no chest of its own. The completed technology is your account progression; the ranking reward is the separate benefit shown for your final place.
That distinction helps set a stopping point. A research unlock you needed can justify the completion even if your final rank falls outside the rewarded places. Spending further items purely to defend a place needs its own decision against the current reward panel.
A plan for your clan
The short-tournament overview explains why the rotation supports flexible preparation rather than a permanent research appointment.
Common mistakes
- Finishing a building upgrade and expecting technology-research points.
- Leaving research idle indefinitely while waiting for the right tournament.
- Choosing a branch for its timer while ignoring a needed troop unlock.
- Spending acceleration before allowing for incoming clan help.
- Treating a completed prerequisite as if it also completed the activity it unlocks.
FAQ
What does Scientific Progress score?
Unlocking and researching technologies, completed inside the active scoring window.
Does upgrading Academy count as researching?
It is construction, which has a separate tournament. Completing a technology is the research action covered here.
Should I stop researching until the event returns?
Keep useful research running. Look for a suitable completion when the event is confirmed rather than delaying important development for an uncertain start.
Can clanmates help?
Yes. The official clan-menu rules cover help with research processes. Account for the revised timer before deciding whether to accelerate completion.
Does a troop research unlock train the troops for me?
No. The official training guide identifies the technology as a prerequisite. Training the unlocked troops is a separate action.
